Sharing the Check at 100 Miracle Mile: The Return of Small Plates 🍽️🍷
![]() | I finally made it over to 100 Miracle Mile to check out the new triple-threat concept by Chef Clay Conley—Buccan, Buccan Sandwich Shop, and Imoto. If you have stopped by any of them, you know the atmosphere is buzzing. We chose to dine at the sit-down Buccan concept with some friends that evening. |
| In many ways, it feels like the resurrection of the classic small plate and tapas movement. You get a little bit of everything across the table, passing dishes back and forth with friends. The timing of this format is especially interesting. With the cost of dining out climbing across South Florida, sharing dishes has quickly evolved from a fun culinary style into a practical move. People still want the high-end experience, the buzzing room, urban formal interior and top-tier hospitality, but sharing plates lets them enjoy an evening out without feeling like they need a second mortgage. Beyond the food, the take-away is how to utilize a large space by splitting among different variations of a single brand or concept. It seems that gone are oversized and overwhelming food courts. Location is important, but timing is everything. Make it a point to drop by and experience good food, good drink and comfortable vibe no matter what your budget is. This is a unique idea to Miami, and a masterclass in retail real estate by servicing several different markets while sharing single resources and space. Whether you are running a restaurant, an office, or a boutique storefront, paying attention to how people actually behave in a changing economy is what separates a short-term trend from an enduring location. If you have had a chance to visit 100 Miracle Mile hit reply and let me know if you think it is here to stay! |
