RK Associates Gets Approval For Mixed-Use Development At 3655 SW 22nd Street, Miami, FL, 33145

A shuttered Sears in Miami may soon be replaced with a multi-family housing development. The project, led by RK Associates, a Sunny Isles Beach-based company, aims to offer 1,050 housing units, including studio to three-bedroom layouts.

According to The Real Deal, the plan includes 995 apartments and 55 rental townhomes. Of these, 420 apartments will be designated as affordable housing. The development will consist of three eight-story buildings, featuring communal amenities such as four swimming pools and other indoor facilities.

The project will replace a Sears store, as shown in a Google Earth image.

In addition to the residential units, the South Florida Business Journal reports that the development will encompass over two million square feet, including more than 43,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 1,924 parking spots in two garages.

The proposal was reviewed and approved by Miami’s Urban Development Review Board on June 20th. RK Associates, known for purchasing shopping centers in South Florida, is the developer behind this project.

The architect for the project is Behar Fonts & Partners. Florida YIMBY recently highlighted another mixed-use venture from this Coral Gables-based firm, called the Arcadian.

The development is planned for 3655 SW 22nd Street, Miami, FL, 33145, in Miami-Dade County.
