When Negotiations Get Cranky, Try a Little Honey 🍯
| Happy Cranky Co-Workers Day! Today is a good reminder that even the best workplaces (and real estate deals) can come with some challenging moods. In real estate you are as only as good as your team, so relationships matter. Taking the time to understand what motivates the people you work with and the people across the table can make all the difference between a deal that stalls and one that moves forward smoothly. After all, you catch more flies with honey—and a lot more cooperation, too. ![]() Learning to read the room and being a good listener will serve you well. And the science backs this up, too! In a 2006 series of experiments, researchers found that negotiators displaying positive emotions were more likely to close a deal in one experiment. In another experiment, positive emotions also helped encourage more productivity and resulted in strong future business relationships. A separate 2004 study found that positive affect among powerful negotiators more often resulted in greater mutual trust and agreements that benefited both parties. |

That bit of goodwill might just be what brightens your office and may seal the deal. Take a moment to listen, connect, and hopefully find plenty of reasons to smile today. |
